Slow and Steady

Image0

I am alive.  Barely.  I have a terrible head cold.  I've given up covering my mouth when I cough and have decided to use my hands to apply pressure to both sides of my head instead-to prevent my head from exploding.

Image1 But the good thing about being sick is I get to spend the entire day in my pajamas, crocheting and blogging.

My afghan is coming along.  I figure I'm about a quarter done now.  It's a nice project to do a row here and a row there.  I never in all my years thought I would crochet an afghan. If someone would have said that a year ago, I would have laughed in their face.  Hysterically.

Now?  I'm considering a second one....  Yep, you heard me.  And maybe even a third.  But that's it.  Any more and I'll have to be committed.

Wooly Bullies

This is a Mockumentary about crochet vs. knitting.  It pokes fun at knitters for being snobby about crochet.

Absolutely hilarious!

Picnic Blanket Progress

Image8_6

So, I've been working on that Picnic Blanket from Rowan-a little bit here, a little bit there.  Progress is slow and steady.  I've almost made one complete color repeat.  There are 9 colors, and only 2 pattern rows, so after you move through the color order twice (18 rows) you have one pattern repeat.

I may be a dish-cloth cotton novice, but I can't tell the difference between Sugar n' Cream and Peaches n' Cream.  PnC is supposed to be softer.  I think it does look a little more evenly and tightly spun than Sugar n' Cream.  I haven't knit with it yet, but as far as crochet goes, my gauge is the same between the two.  I was worried that they'd be so different, but as far as this blanket goes, they are indistinguishable.

I like this pattern.  It makes me think SPRING!

I'm off to work at the Yarn Shop today, and then out for lunch with my sister.  I'm so excited, I don't remember the last time we went for lunch.  Hmmm, maybe we should extend it with a little shopping....  at least some window shopping.

Who's Amy Lu?

  • Let me introduce myself! I'm a 30-something stay-at-home home-schooling Mother of two (one by adoption, one by birth). I love to craft, I love to cook, I love to knit, and I can't keep my house clean to save my life. I've been married to my college sweet-heart since 1995. I've lived in the Midwest all my life and just in case you didn't know, Lake Michigan is my lake.
